The 100-megawatt solar farm will soon go up in the town of Capas in Tarlac province, authorities said. In a press release, officials announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Lex Phil International Corporation, the Capas municipal government, and Cooperativa Eléctrica Tarlac II (TARELCO II) for the P10 billion renewable energy project located in Barangay Buenos. Lex Phil Chairman Su Eon Kim signed the MoU on behalf of his company. Kim highlighted the job opportunities and income generated by establishing the facility in the future. “Capas was selected as the project site due to its strategic location,” he said. Capas Mayor Roseller Rodríguez said: “We will provide assistance for the smooth establishment of this project because it is a welcome investment in our municipality. It can also help solve our country’s energy problem.” According to the MOU, the local government unit (LGU) will assist the company in obtaining all necessary Permits i.e. ERC, DOE, etc., construction and operating permits. TARELCO II Board Chairman Aubrey Alimurung said: “We welcome this investment which can help LGU and the cooperative. You know, we should have a lot of investors. The more supply, the lower the demand, which could lead to cheaper electricity prices.”
